Simon Pegg teases Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning
Simon Pegg has revealed that fans are not ready for the mind-boggling stunts Tom Cruise pulls off in the upcoming instalment.
Simon Pegg has described Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning as “the best one ever”.
The Hot Fuzz actor, who plays Benji Dunn in the franchise, has revealed that fans are not ready for the mind-boggling stunts Tom Cruise pulls off in the upcoming instalment.
“I have just finished shooting. I’ve got one day of pickups to do,” he shared on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast. “I’ve seen some of it. It’s bananas. It’s absolutely bananas. What he does in this one, it boggles the mind. I think this one is the best one ever and I’m not just saying that. It is going to be great.”
The British star made his debut as Benji in Mission: Impossible III in 2006 and has since reprised the role for 2011’s Ghost Protocol, 2015’s Rogue Nation, 2018’s Fallout and 2023’s Dead Reckoning.
The title of the eighth instalment was revealed alongside a trailer earlier this week, leaving fans wondering if it will be Cruise’s final outing as Ethan Hunt.
Pegg, who recorded the podcast before the title reveal, also opened up about shooting the action-packed series, calling the process “fun” but “hard” and “sometimes arduous”. He added that Cruise is “always very courteous” on set but “things get done when he’s around” because he “cracks the whip” as a producer.
However, Pegg divulged that the Hollywood star sometimes tries to throw him off when the camera is filming him.
“He’s terrible when he’s in a great mood ’cause he just gets really mischievous. He’ll always try and f**k me over on my coverage,” he said. “There are days when I just see he gets that little glint in his eye and I’m like, ‘You don’t f**king dare man because I’m in this film too.'”
The Final Reckoning, which also stars Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames and Vanessa Kirby, will be released in May 2025.
