Shawn Levy experiencing ‘spoiler anxiety’ over Deadpool & Wolverine
Shawn Levy has tried to remain as tight-lipped as possible when asked about the rumours of who may be in the film.
Shawn Levy has admitted “spoiler anxiety” is keeping him up at night ahead of Deadpool & Wolverine’s premiere.
The director, who has tried hard to protect the secrets in the upcoming superhero movie for a couple of years, admitted to Entertainment Weekly that the level of anticipation ahead of Marvel’s only 2024 film has given him “spoiler anxiety”.
“But it also keeps me rigorously focused on the highest standards for this movie, because it brings the highest expectations,” he noted. “With a movie like this, where people seem to be letting us know they intend to show up, I want to make sure that we build the most joyous, rollicking good time in the theatres that we possibly could.”
Details of the movie are being kept under wraps and Levy has tried to remain as tight-lipped as possible when asked about the rumours of who may be in the film.
Discussing the cameos, he said, “We didn’t want any of the cameos or characters to be the story of the movie. But they are peppered in throughout. There’s a lot of characters. The internet is a delight of rumours about the multitude of character cameos that are in this movie. Some rumours are true, some are way off base.”
The Adam Project director doesn’t generally gravitate towards sequels but he signed up for a third Deadpool film because of the story and his friendships with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.
“I get offered some IP-based movie every week, and, as you’ve noticed from a lack of announcements, I pretty much always turn them down because I need to feel that I see a story worth telling,” he explained.
Deadpool & Wolverine will be released in cinemas on 25 July.
