Jude Law wishes he’d ‘been allowed to have more fun’ filming Captain Marvel

Jude Law wishes he’d been “allowed to have more fun” with his character on the set of Captain Marvel.
The British actor made his Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debut as Yon-Rogg, the commander of the elite military unit Starforce and a mentor for Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers, in 2019.
While Law had “a really good experience” making the superhero movie, he wishes his character wasn’t quite so serious.
“I wish I’d been allowed to have a bit more fun with the part. I wanted him to be more arch. I wanted to lean into the humour more,” he told Variety.
The Talented Mr. Ripley star then recalled struggling to move in his thick rubber suit.
“You go to stunt camp for a couple of months, where you’re doing all these fight rehearsals and learning to do all this stuff. And then you put the suit on, and you go, ‘Oh! I can’t touch my toes! How am I going to do all that stuff with this thing on?’ You figure it out though,” he shared.
Captain Marvel featured a star-studded cast which also included Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan and Annette Bening.
While his co-stars have gone on to appear in further MCU projects such as Avengers: Endgame, The Marvels and Secret Invasion, Captain Marvel remains Law’s only appearance. However, he only signed a one-feature deal.
“I don’t think there was much more they could get out of Yon-Rogg,” he stated. “That, for me, was the height of Marvel.”
