Dwayne Johnson: ‘A Christmas movie was on my bucket list’
The star also joked about being dwarfed by some of his taller Red One castmates.
Dwayne Johnson has revealed starring in a Christmas movie was on his “bucket list”.
The actor is currently promoting his latest film Red One, a comedy adventure which sees a team of experts fight to save Christmas after Santa Claus is kidnapped from the North Pole.
During an appearance on this week’s The Graham Norton Show, Johnson confessed he’s always wanted to appear in a festive film.
“It’s my first Christmas movie and as an actor I feel it’s a bucket list thing now checked off,” he told the audience.
Johnson is renowned for his towering height and bulky physique, but in Red One, he was dwarfed by several castmates.
During his interview, the 6ft 5in star – also known as The Rock – joked about not being the tallest actor on set for once.
“I really noticed what it was like to have to look up to others for a change – I noticed that this is what Kevin Hart’s life is!” he quipped.
Lucy Liu also appears in Red One, with Johnson referring to his co-star as a “born badass”.
When asked if she had embarked on an intense exercise regime to get in shape for the fight scenes, Liu insisted her previous movie roles helped her out.
“No not at all. If anything, he could deadlift me,” she replied when asked if she worked out with Johnson. “For the big fight scene my muscle memory from previous roles in Kill Bill and Charlie’s Angels just seemed to kick in and it all sort of happened.”
Red One, also starring Chris Evans, J.K. Simmons and Kiernan Shipka, is in cinemas now.
