Daisy Ridley teases ‘different direction’ for upcoming Star Wars movie

Daisy Ridley believes her new movie will be “a fantastic exploration” of the Star Wars universe.

Daisy Ridley’s new Star Wars movie will take her character’s story in a “different direction”.

The British actress revealed during an interview with AlloCiné that Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy floated the idea of a fourth Rey outing during a breakfast meeting and she accepted the role after giving the story some thought.

“So I thought about it for a little bit, and once I knew what the story was and everything, I knew it was something I really wanted to do,” the 31-year-old said. “I think it’s a really fantastic exploration of the Star Wars world. It’s a really cool way of taking the story on in a bit of a different direction.”

Daisy played Rey in 2015’s Star Wars: Force Awakens, 2017’s The Last Jedi and 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker. The next film, directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, will be called New Jedi Order and set 15 years after the most recent trilogy.

In November, Daisy told Collider that she hadn’t yet read a script but the story was “not what (she) expected”.

When asked if it will kickstart a new trilogy, she replied, “I know the storyline for one film. That’s not to say that that’s all it is, but that’s what I was told about.

“And I imagine it will be the next film, I think. I mean, again, I don’t know, post strikes and everything, how quickly everything will start up again. But yes, so far, I know the story of one film and I think people will be very excited.”

Daisy’s co-stars have yet to be announced.
