Anya Taylor-Joy reflects on challenging Dune: Part Two shoot
Anya Taylor-Joy insisted walking up a sand dune is not easy.
Anya Taylor-Joy has opened about the challenges of shooting her cameo in Dune: Part Two.
The Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga star shocked fans when she made a brief cameo in the Dune sequel as a future version of Alia, the then-unborn sister of Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides, back in March.
In an interview with British GQ, Taylor-Joy admitted the seconds-long scene, in which she walks up a sand dune, was difficult for all involved.
“Have you ever walked on a dune?” Taylor-Joy asked. “It was a f**king mountain made of sand. Every step you take, you fall. There was a very real moment halfway through where, I can guarantee you, every single one of us was like, ‘I can’t f**king make it; bury me here.'”
She added, “By the time we climbed that dune, I think all of us had let go.”
The actress and director Denis Villeneuve worked with a skeleton crew in Namibia in order to keep her cameo a secret, even from the rest of the cast.
While the shoot was difficult, Taylor-Joy believes she is prepared for future instalments, having worked on sandy sets for Furiosa and the Dune sequel.
“Listen, I’m ready now, I’ve done the training,” she stated. “I think you kind of need to do the movie in order to be ready for it.”
However, she does not yet know if she will be back for the third movie, which Villeneuve is currently developing.
“I’ll know when you do,” she teased. “I think we’re all really hopeful.”
