Sarah Jessica Parker: 'Ellen DeGeneres could play Samantha in Sex & the City 3'
The actress announced the sequel was dead last year.
Sarah Jessica Parker has joked about replacing Kim Cattrall with Ellen DeGeneres for a possible Sex & the City 3.
The actress and producer announced the much-talked about sequel had stalled last year (17), prompting fans to turn on Cattrall, who was believed to be behind the decision.
Kim revealed she had made it clear she didn't want to return as sex-starved Samantha Jones in another sequel, and she lashed out at Parker for making it seem as if it was her fault fans of the film and TV franchise wouldn't be getting another dose of the drama.
Appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday (17Jan18), Parker suggested there may still be a film - if writers and producers could come up with a way of either replacing Cattrall or writing around her character.
The actress, who played Carrie Bradshaw in both the TV series and two films, then offered the role to DeGeneres, stating, "I think there’s a period of grief, a mourning process, and then perhaps we’ll be able to consider, say, for instance, you playing Samantha," Parker told the talk show host and comedienne.
"That’s who I identify with on that show. That is me. I am a sexual beast," lesbian Ellen responded.
Sarah Jessica then got serious and revealed she hasn't completely killed the idea of a third movie - without Cattrall, who has urged her to press on without her.
"Last week I said no, because the reality is it’s a brutal companion. I feel like maybe (we can do it)... I don’t know," she said. "I’ve just got to make up an answer because I have absolutely no idea... Perhaps we’ll find a way. Right now I don’t know."
