Ruth Negga to star alongside Brad Pitt in sci-fi movie Ad Astra

Ruth Negga's role in the epic is being kept under wraps, but the space epic is also set to star Brad Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones.

Ruth Negga has signed on to star alongside Brad Pitt in upcoming sci-fi movie Ad Astra.

The Loving actress will appear in James Gray's new film, which has a screenplay by Gray and Ethan Gross, and focuses on an Army Corps engineer who searches across the galaxy for his father, who disappeared on a mission to find alien life twenty years earlier.

While Negga's role in the epic is being kept under wraps, Pitt will portray Roy McBride and Tommy Lee Jones has been attached to play Clifford McBride, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The actress will film Ad Astra during her break from filming AMC TV show Preacher, in which she plays Tulip O'Hare.

Meanwhile, Negga's Preacher co-star Noah Taylor has landed a role in a major picture too. The actor, known for his parts in HBO's Game of Thrones and cult Australian film He Died with a Felafel in His Hand, will join Dwayne Johnson in Legendary's Skyscraper, which is set to be directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber. Described as an action-thriller set in China, Skyscraper is reported to be in the same vein as Die Hard, and will also star Pablo Schreiber and Neve Campbell.

And though the news is yet to be confirmed, Nicole Kidman is reported to be eyeing a role in Karyn Kusama's crime-thriller Destroyer. The Tracking Board claims that the Australian actress is in talks to front the film, which has a script by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi.

Kidman has recently found success with Sofia Coppola's The Beguiled and Jane Campion's Top of the Lake: China Girl, and is currently filming the part of Queen Atlanna in James Wan's Aquaman.
