Pattinson: Acting’s not enough

Robert Pattinson wants to be known as more than just an actor.

Robert Pattinson wants to do more than just act.

The star became famous in teen franchise Twilight but is now better known for appearing in dramatic offerings like The Rover.

While life in Hollywood has proved successful for the 29-year-old, he's decided that simply appearing on screen isn't enough for him.

"I want to do something besides acting, something I have more control over," he opened up, according to German magazine Neon. "Last year I secretly tried my hand at several things. I can't tell you what they were, or else it won't work!"

Being in the limelight hasn't always proved fun, with his relationship to Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart inviting intense scrutiny. They eventually split in 2012, after it was found Kristen was having an affair with married director Rupert Sanders.

Now he's moved on and is engaged to singer FKA twigs. Dating anyone only interested in his fame would never have been an option for Robert.

"Of course, there are plenty of events with tons of dressed-up women," he apparently said. "You'd have to be a total idiot to start anything with any of those though. Just think about it: someone is sleeping with you purely because you are famous. These women just want to get close to a star in order to make money; they'd sell a story about a night they spent with you to the papers in a heartbeat."

For now, Robert still has plenty of films to keep him busy. He stars in The Childhood of a Leader this year and has The Lost City of Z coming out in 2016.
