Nina Dobrev, Ashley Benson among actresses ‘testing for Baywatch lead’
Paramount Pictures is actively searching to fill empty roles on the Baywatch cast.
Nina Dobrev and Ashley Benson are reportedly among a group of actresses testing for the lead female role in the upcoming Baywatch movie.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Zac Efron have already been cast as the leading men in the film adaptation of the '90s lifeguard TV series, which starred Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff.
According to Deadline, Paramount Pictures is preparing to cast the actress who will star opposite Dwayne and Zac, with several already on the shortlist, including Nina, of supernatural drama series The Vampire Diaries, and Ashley of teen television drama Pretty Little Liars. Nina and Ashley are said to be competing with Alexandra Daddario, Alexandra Shipp, Shelley Hennig, Denyse Tontz and Bianca Santos for the role, with each of the stars already experienced in young adult drama.
The Baywatch film will be directed by Seth Gordon, who is behind 2011 comedy Horrible Bosses.
Baywatch the television series was renowned for its sexy stars and many classic scenes featured castmates running on the beach in skimpy bathing suits.
Dwayne recently spoke about what fans can expect in the movie adaptation, noting the flick will retain an element of sauciness.
"The cool thing about this is we want to make a movie that's big, fun, epic, and all the things that you want," he said at the D23 Expo in August (15). "We want to make sure that it has edge and badass action and dirty jokes!"
Dwayne’s co-star Zac has also spoken about how excited he is to be involved, saying it will be "big, real, raw" and R-rated.
