Nicolas Cage signs on for two new action films
The actor is expected to resume filming heist movie #211 next month after breaking his ankle on set.
Nicolas Cage is ramping up his filming schedule later this year (17) by signing on for two new action movies as he recovers from a broken ankle.
The National Treasure actor is set to portray a recently paroled U.S. Navy SEAL in Red Squad and he will also star in Zander, about an American in Puerto Rico, who refuses to sell his coffee bean farm to a local drug lord.
Alexander Witt is directing Red Squad, which was written by Jorge Suarez, Cam Cannon, Scott Windhauser and David Sardi, and Zander's screenplay has also been written by Windhauser. A director has yet to sign on for that project.
Both films will be shot in Puerto Rico from October (17) through to the end of the year.
The movie news comes after Cage broke his ankle on the set of his heist film #211 in Bulgaria last month (Apr17). The movie star is expected to bounce back and return to work on the movie next month (Jun17).
Cage has yet to comment on the injury, or the circumstances surrounding his accident, but he has never been one to shy away from action stunts, which he finds oddly calming.
"One of the things that's interesting to me is I find things like caffeine and stunts actually relax me," he previously told Metro.co.uk. "When they're putting a bit of gel on my arm and lighting me on fire, or when I'm about to go into a high-speed car chase or rev a motorcycle up pretty fast, I find everything else around me slows down. I find it quite calming, which is an odd switch."
