Michelle Rodriguez demands more face time with Fast & Furious women

The actress is still undecided if she'll be back for the ninth and 10th films in the franchise.

Actress Michelle Rodriguez has challenged the Fast & Furious franchise writers to come up with more scenes, in which leading ladies speak to one another.

The outspoken Latina recently threatened to quit the movie franchise unless bosses develop story lines with more focus on its female stars.

In an Instagram post, timed to coincide with the digital and DVD release of the eighth movie The Fate of the Furious, Michelle, who has played Leticia 'Letty' Ortiz in the action films, indicated that she will leave the series unless the next instalment is more female-focused.

"F8 is out digitally today, I hope they decide to show some love to the women of the franchise on the next one," she wrote. "Or I just might have to say goodbye to a loved franchise. It's been a good ride & Im (sic) grateful for the opportunity the fans & studio have provided over the years... One Love."

And now the 38-year-old star has made it clear she wants more scenes, in which she actually talks to her female castmates.

"I'd like to see them (women in the film) talk to each other for a change," she tells TMZ. "I could count with (the fingers on) one hand how many times I've talked with the female actresses in the franchise and I think that's kind of sad."

Her female castmates have included Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren, and Gal Gadot, while Jordana Brewster, like Michelle, is a regular.

The Fate of the Furious was a roaring success, making more than $1.2 billion in cinemas around the world, and there are two more films lined up, scheduled for release in 2019 and 2021.

But Rodriguez is still waiting to see a script before she agrees to sign on.

"My path is about female empowerment and if I'm feeling a bit stagnant in that area then I'm gonna have to move on. Evolve or die, baby."
