Julianne Moore couldn't believe surreal first encounter with Elton John on Kingsman set
Colin Firth joked that Elton John may have stolen his thunder.
Julianne Moore will always remember her first encounter with singer Elton John on the set of Kingsman: The Golden Circle because it was so bizarre.
The Oscar-winning actress has joined the Kingsman spy franchise as the main villain Poppy, the head of a drug cartel, who has her own small town called PoppyLand hidden in the Cambodian jungle, complete with diner, salon and theatre, where Elton serves as the resident performer.
When asked what her most unforgettable moment filming was, Julianne told WENN Cover Media that it has to be her first encounter with the singer.
"I think my most memorable day on set was when I came in for rehearsal and Colin (Firth) was working with Elton and Elton was wearing a chicken suit," she said. "I came over to say hi and I was like, 'I can't believe this is happening'."
The Rocket Man singer, who plays himself in the movie, admitted to reporters at the world premiere in London on Monday (18Sep17) that he was offered a part in the first film, Kingsman: The Secret Service, but he declined.
"I was supposed to be in the last one and I turned it down," he said. "Then I saw it and I said I wish I'd been in it. So when Matthew (Vaughn, director) asked, I jumped at the chance."
He was also quizzed on how he felt about revisiting his old, flamboyant outfits, to which Elton joked that he couldn't answer properly with young ears present.
He was nervous about joining the cast but Julianne and Colin helped him feel at home, while for Colin, who returns as Harry Hart, he revealed it was "dream come true" to work with the iconic singer as he had begged him to be in the first one.
"But now I'm hearing all the reactions to Elton and I'm worried I think he may have stolen (my thunder)," he quipped.
The script was written by Matthew and his regular collaborator Jane Goldman, who confessed that out of all the crazy scenes they wrote, she was most looking forward to seeing all the ones with Elton brought to life on the big screen.
"Anything involving Elton John because it never stopped making me laugh on the page" she said.
