Jessica Chastain joins The Huntsman
Jessica Chastain has signed on to star alongside Chris Hemsworth in the Snow White and the Huntsman spin-off.
Jessica Chastain has joined the cast of The Huntsman.
The two-time Oscar-nominated actress will star alongside Chris Hemsworth in the spin-off of 2012's Snow White and the Huntsman, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
While there is no word yet as to what role she will play, the film will focus on the lives of returning stars Chris's titular character and Charlize Theron's Ravenna prior to the arrival of Snow White, who was originally portrayed by Kristen Stewart.
Emily Blunt also recently signed on the dotted line to play The Snow Queen.
The news of 37-year-old Jessica's casting comes hot on the heels of last month’s confirmation that Cedric Nicolas-Troyan will direct after Frank Darabont bowed out of the project.
Darabont, who is the former showrunner of The Walking Dead, penned the screenplay, along with previous drafts by Craig Mazin and Evan Spiliotopoulos.
Rupert Sanders, who directed the first film, was let go after reports surfaced that he and leading lady Kristen Stewart had embarked on an affair.
Us Weekly published photos of the pair cuddling and kissing in July 2012, which led to the breakup of both Kristen's relationship with Robert Pattinson and Rupert's eventual divorce from wife Liberty Ross, with whom he shares two children.
Both parties issued statements at the time, apologising to their partners for their indiscretion and taking full responsibility for their actions.
Jessica was previously nominated for Academy Awards for her roles in 2011's The Help and 2012's Zero Dark Thirty.
