Fantastic Four, X-Men crossover ‘in play’

Bryan Singer has teased fans about a potential Fantastic Four and X-Men crossover, admitting the rumours of a crossover aren’t entirely false.

Bryan Singer says an X-Men and Fantastic Four crossover is “in play”.

The 49-year-old director was asked about rumours of the two stories teaming up in a recent interview with Yahoo! Movies.

And while he refused to be drawn into revealing any details about what the storyline could involve, Bryan did tease fans that the allegations aren’t entirely false.

“Those ideas are in play," he said.

"That would be a natural match-up because they're both ensemble films and there is a natural mechanism by which to do it."

But asked to expand on just what that “natural mechanism” is, Bryan replied: “It deals with time. That's all I'm going to say."

A crossover has been spoken about for months due to both Fantastic Four and X-Men being owned by Marvel.

The comic book heroes have also teamed up on several occasions in print – in the 1987 Fantastic Four vs. The X-Men series and the more recent X-Men/Fantastic four.

Both movies also have another common factor – producer and screenwriter Simon Kinberg.

Simon has turned his hand to the screenplays for X-Men: Days of Future Past, Fantastic Four and the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse.

Speaking recently about the next installment in the X-Men franchise, actress Rose Byrne revealed she was stunned by the wardrobe involved in the film.

The 35-year-old portrays fictional geneticist Moira MacTaggert in the sequel, and said she was thoroughly entertained by the “very ‘80s” costumes.

“I like the ’80s!” she told MTV News of what her character Moira dons throughout the movie.

“There’s a high pant — I’ve got a great high pant thing happening, [and] I like a strong shoulder.

"I’m not a fan of the weird négligée under the blouse look — that very ’80s look.”
