Diane Kruger to get tattoo after losing a bet with In the Fade director

The German beauty didn't even think her new drama would be screened at Cannes.

Actress Diane Kruger may need to make room for a new tattoo after losing a bet with her In the Fade director.

The blonde beauty picked up the best actress trophy at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival on Sunday (28May17) for her work in the neo-Nazi terrorist drama, but according to filmmaker Fatih Akin, she was convinced their movie would never even be screened at the event.

In fact Kruger was so sure it had no chance, she even made a bet to get a classic anchor tattoo if her assumption was incorrect, and director Akin already has a parlour in mind near his home where she'll be memorialising her bet loss forever in a new inking on a her body.

"It's not far from where I live (in Hamburg)," he giggled to AFP news reporters. "They're good!"

The burn of losing her bet is overshadowed by the outpouring of love she is receiving for her big win at the 70th annual Cannes Film Festival.

Diane's ex-boyfriend Joshua Jackson, who she split from last year (16) after dating for a decade, was the first to congratulate her for scooping up the best actress honour.

"Yes she Cannes," he wrote on his Instagram account. "Having witnessed the integrity and dedication that you bring to every job, I'm over the moon to see you getting the recognition you deserve. Only question is what took 'em so long! CONGRATULATIONS, Josh."

Her current boyfriend, actor Norman Reedus, also took to social media to coo about the actress' award, raving: "dianekruger Omg (oh my god)!!!!!!!! Babe!!!!!!!!" and added seven heart emojis.

Kruger and Reedus went public with their romance in March (17) after they were spotted locking lips during a night out in New York.
