LORRAINE BRACCO AND PATTI LABELLE PLAY URBAN TEACHERS WHO LEAD THEIR STUDENTS TOWARD A COMPETITITVE "SING" IN THIS CONTEMPORARY MUSICAL BASED ON A 40-YEAR-OLD TRADITION OF COMPETITION-IN-THE-ARTS. SET IN BROOKLYN, THE ANNUAL HIGH SCHOOL EVENT HAS MEMBERS OF EACH GRADE COMPETING AGAINST EACH OTHER IN ORIGINAL MUSICAL PRODUCTIONS THAT THEY HAVE WRITTEN, PRODUCED AND DIRECTED. THE STORY IS SAID TO CAPITALIZE ON THE VALUES OF "INNOCENCE, TRADITION AND A SENSE OF COMMUNITY IN THE FACE OF TRANSITION." THIS PERFORMANCE MUSICAL MARKS THE DIRECTORIAL DEBUT OF COMPOSER-TURNED-FILMMAKER RICHARD BASKIN. TEN ORIGINAL SONG AND DANCE NUMBERS BY DEAN ("FOOTLOOSE") PITCHFORD, THE OSCAR-WINNING LYRICIST OF "FAME," ARE FEATURED.
